I don't typically spend a ton of time talking about teams from the Southland and Sun Belt conferences, but when you are playing the first FBS football game of the season, then you get a shout-out on College Cheerleader Heaven.
So let's all train our eyes on the Abilene Christian - Georgia State game tonight as an appetizer for what is, hopefully, a great weekend of college football.
I'm starting to learn that Arkansas fans are a little bit delusional. If you listen to a typical Hawg fan, they are pretty convinced that Bret Bielema is going to turn things completely around in Fayeteville this year. I'm not sure what they are basing that on, but good for them.
One thing I do know; the Arkansas cheerleader and dancer game is going to be as strong as ever on the sidelines. Even if the football fails to reach a bowl again (which I think they will), the show on the sidelines is going to be enough to distract from the play on the field.
So who is the scheduling genius at Washington that got Hawaii at the front of the Huskies schedule this year? Absolute freakin' genius. Prepare yourselves, beaches of Honolulu, the Washington cheerleaders and dancers are coming for you!
Everyone seems to think that Oklahoma is going to end up in the first ever college football playoff. I'm not sure I buy that thinking, but I would enjoy seeing the Sooners' cheerleaders and dancers on the sidelines during the playoffs, so I guess it wouldn't be all bad.
I know that everyone is in love with Oregon (and the Oregon cheerleaders) this year, but don't sleep on Stanford. I think they have a real shot to win the Pac 12. Plus, it's not like their cheerleaders and dancers are too shabby in their own right!
While the AP poll may be fairly worthless these days, people still debate the damn thing for hours. At least this year I think the voters got the top spot right. It's pretty hard to argue with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner leading the reigning national champion. Plus, let's not forget about the Florida State cheerleaders. They're worth a few votes by themselves!
We've made a couple of new friends over on Twitter that share our love of college cheerleaders. Today we're introducing you to @collegecheer2. If these Iowa State cheerleaders are any indication of what we can expect from them, we are in for a great treat!
We've talked about the importance of cheer squads bonding before, so maybe the TCU cheerleaders heeded our words of advice and scheduled a lake weekend to become closer as a team. Or maybe they do this every year.
Regardless, it looks like they had a great time and are now ready to cheer their Horned Frogs on to a successful season in the Big 12.
I think we all know that Las Vegas is a separate universe. There is just something about a city built in the middle of the desert that markets itself as a den of debauchery that appeals to a lot of people. Then you throw in the UNLV Rebel Girls on top of things and it takes it to a whole different level!
Even the people over at Sports Illustrated moved everything around on their website and made it infinitely harder to find their Cheerleader of the Week features, they are still delivering top-notch cheerleaders every week.
This time we're headed back to Lubbock, Texas to meet another Texas Tech cheerleader. She joins fellow beauties Bridgette, Peyton, and Kelsey in the pantheon of Red Raiders to grace the pages of the best thing Sports Illustrated has probably ever produced.
