Here we go again. The first game between these two may have been postponed, but we're going to get our 2nd dose of the best rivalry in college basketball today. Duke is desperately trying to hold on to a #1 seed in the tourney while North Carolina is trying to work their way back from the brink of despair into a #3 or #4 seed. This could be a biggie!
Time is running out to vote for the next Angela King Designs sports model. Head over to AKD's website and start voting. There are plenty of College Cheer Heaven favorites to choose from. Or vote for them all, that works too. You can also check out our Facebook page for more deserving vote getters!
It's been quite awhile since the Wake Forest basketball squad was worth a damn. So that means it's been a long time since I've a good reason to feature the Wake Forest cheerleaders. But any time you beat Duke by double digits and (possibly) deny the Blue Devils a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, then you get a spot on College Cheerleader Heaven. Guaranteed.
Clinching a title in somebody else's house is always sweet. Doing it with a 31-point blowout win is on a whole different level. But that is exactly what Michigan did last night when they absolutely embarrassed Illinois in Champaign and locked up the Big 10 basketball title.
That is a pretty baller way to solidify a conference championship. So let's celebrate with some dancers!
All of a sudden I look up and Virginia is ranked #5 in the nation and has clinched their first ACC title since 1981. How in the hell did that happen? How does a team that lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay earlier in the year go 16-1 in the country's best basketball conference? I am so confused.
But at the same time it gives us a chance to highlight the Cavaliers' dance team for the first time since 2011 on College Cheerleader Heaven. So that works for me!
A reader sent me these pictures of his friend Shannon, a dancer for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This is the first appearance on College Cheerleader Heaven for the Panthers, so let's show Shannon some love.
Wichita State is already the first team in college basketball history to start a season 30-0 in the regular season. Today they look to clinch a perfect regular season and continue their march to being the first team to go undefeated on the season since the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers.
Standing in their way (technically speaking) is a Missouri State team that is 19-10 on the season and looking to finish above .500 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Shockers are obviously the better team, but the Bears took them to overtime in their last meeting.
If I was a Washington Huskies fan, I think I would feel a little conflicted about hiring Chris Peterson away from Boise State. Sure he kept that program rolling and turned it into a powerhouse, but things have slipped a little bit in the last couple of years. Is Peterson really the guy to get the Huskies back to national prominence?
Then again, with cheerleader like the Huskies have, does it really matter how good the football team is?
The folks over at SI's Cheerleader of the Week headed up to Boston to find Northeastern University dancer Brittany for a recent feature. Northeastern isn't a huge sports school, so we don't see them very often on the pages of College Cheerleader Heaven. But we're happy Brittany is changing that today!

Around here, we celebrate things like the Florida Gators ascending to the top spot in the AP College Basketball poll by repping the girls that stand on the sidelines and cheer on those teams. It's what we do, and we're pretty darn good at it!
So this game may have lost a little bit of its luster with both teams losing to unranked foes already this week, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it. This is still a battle of two of the top teams in the country looking for ACC supremacy.
Duke losing to cross-town rival North Carolina is a big deal, but it's certainly not as crushing as Syracuse losing at home to a Boston College team that has all of 7 wins on the year. So it will be interesting to see how each team bounces back from defeat. And let's not forget the Orange won the first round of this burgeoning rivalry. Time for Round 2 boys and girls!
